Malakai Alatini Trust
The Malakai Alatini Trust was started in 2020 by Pita and Tony Alatini to help develop and foster the careers of a new generation of players using sport and culture as the foundation for a pathway to success on-and-off the field.
They named the trust in honour of their father who like so many of his generation left the islands to pursue a better life for his children in Aotearoa.
The purpose and aim of the trust for Tongan and Pasifika youth to:
- develop and implement sporting, educational, vocational and cultural programmes
- promote physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing
- provide mentorship, life skills, life management, counselling and other support services
- promote enjoyment of sport at all levels, education at all levels and an understanding of culture
- empower and support youth to participate and achieve in areas of sport, education, culture and employment.
