    Fakataukei Mentoring Programme for Y12-13

The Malakai Alatini Trust (MAT) is happy to announce that it has secured Ministry of Education Funding from the Pacific Innovation Fund to deliver the Fakataukei Mentoring Programme to year 12-13 students in Auckland. MAT is currently working across three schools with their students and looking to expand the reach of the programme as lockdown restrictions ease into Term 1- 2022.

Brothers Tony and Pita Alatini started MAT to help develop and foster career pathways for Pasifika youth using sport and culture as the foundation to success for on and off the field. Through this work, the trust has developed the Fakataukei Programme. We believe the that the future success of Pacific learners is in helping them to develop a strong sense of wellbeing, as well as driving and championing the success of their educational journey.

The Fakataukei program is designed to:

    • Maintain and develop engagement in education and vocational pathways

    • Assist transition from school to work or further education

    • Promote awareness of social environments

    • Connect or reconnect with cultural identity

    • Assist and guide the development of sporting or athletic potential

    • Increase their career options
